SimFalcon hardware

CCTV Connectivity

Connect cameras where broadband is impractical. Choose 4G for typical remote viewing or 5G for heavier continuous use.

Recommended hardware

Select hardware based on the equipment, signal conditions and expected data use—not simply the largest specification.

Choosing hardware for CCTV

Video is the demanding case for a cellular connection. Work out how many cameras you have and how they will be viewed before choosing a router or a plan.

  • Teltonika RUT200: compact 4G for a small CCTV system, with the site's equipment behind one router.
  • Teltonika RUTM51: industrial 5G for higher-speed cellular internet where several cameras, a remote office or a temporary site need more headroom and 5G coverage is available.
  • A camera sending a 2 Mbit/s stream continuously uses about 21 GB a day. Record on motion where you can and use the lower-quality sub-stream for remote viewing.
  • Mobile networks normally put customers behind carrier-grade NAT, so port forwarding usually does not work from outside. Use the recorder maker's cloud or P2P service or a VPN, or ask about private APN options. See CCTV router has no internet.

Frequently asked questions

Can I view my cameras remotely over a 4G router?

Yes, but not usually by port forwarding, because mobile networks normally place customers behind carrier-grade NAT. Use the recorder or camera manufacturer's cloud or P2P service, or a VPN, or ask about private APN options.

How much data will my cameras use?

A camera sending a 2 Mbit/s stream all day uses about 21 GB. Continuous streaming can empty a small plan in hours, so record on motion where you can and use the lower-quality sub-stream for remote viewing.
